The TED 2009 conference is underway this week in Long Beach, CA. For the uninitiated, TED (which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design) is an ultra-prestigious, annual invite-only event that hosts a humbling roster of the smartest folks on the planet. Think I’m exaggerating? Think again. We’re talking people like Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Peter Gabriel and Stephen Hawking, among others.

This year, besides being dazzled by “ideas worth sharing” from the brilliant minds of Oliver Sacks and Bill Gates (who created quite a buzz on Wednesday), attendees can tour the Kohler LivingHome, a sleek, unique, and innovative modular home showcasing the latest in green design and products. Check out this time-lapse video of the home being assembled.

For those of us stuck at home yet yearning for an inspirational kick to the cranium, the talks are available via the TED site. You can also follow the action via the TED blog.

Meanwhile, learn more about the cool, modern styling and health and sustainability missions that make LivingHomes unique.
